Six young musicians from the charity Awards for Young Musicians’ London and South East region were coached and mentored by ECO cellist Bozidar Vukotic with two students, Avril Freemantle, violin, and Eloise Riddell, double bass, from the Royal Academy of Music on Beethoven’s Septet. Their work culminated in a Concert Prelude at the Cadogan Hall on Sunday 17th November.

About AYM Awards for Young Musicians (AYM) believes that all musically talented young people should have the opportunity to fulfil their potential, whatever their background. We strategically target our resources to give talented children from lower income families the best possible chance to flourish and grow. Our ambition matches that of the young people we’re here to help: we fundraise continuously and do all we can to give holistic, tailor made support to young musicians in need.

We work across four programme areas:

Identifying Talent:
training teachers in how to spot young people’s musical potential

Furthering Talent:
targeting and sustaining young people’s emerging talent through strategic support

Awards: funding young talent UK wide through annual grants and tailor made help for individual musicians
