English Chamber Orchestra:The Joy of Bach
19:30 Cadogan Hall, London
Shout for joy in every land! No composer knew how to celebrate quite like Johann Sebastian Bach – and no composer had a more direct hotline to the human spirit.
The ECO performs three of his Brandenburg Concertos – great sunbursts of melody, energy and imagination – before soprano soloist and trumpet take centre stage in the virtuosic ‘Jauchzet Gott’, one of the most joyous of his cantatas.
Bach’s masterpieces are paired with Arvo Pärt’s celebrated Fratres: timeless music that converses across the centuries.
