Michael Facey - Chair of the English Chamber Orchestra Charitable Trust
We are very sad to announce the death of Michael Facey, one of our great friends and most ardent supporters whose association with the orchestra has spanned over 40 years. As Chairman of the ECO Charitable Trust in recent years, his unwavering commitment especially during the the Covid years and following death of his dear friend Quintin Ballardie has been invaluable.
For many years he quietly and successfully ran the large group of Friends of the ECO, his wide knowledge and great love of music, particularly the chamber orchestra repertoire enthusing people to come and support the orchestra. He gained great pleasure attending rehearsals and rarely missed London performances, a familiar figure to be seen in the centre of the stalls.
In addition to his work behind the scenes with the orchestra, he was a highly successful businessman, a man of energy running his independent wool business right up until his death, at the age of eighty three. A keen sailor, an enthusiastic cook, he was also very proud to be a Liveryman of the Stationers’ Hall.
He will be very much missed by us all at the English Chamber Orchestra.
